Dr Koji Kuroda, the Chief Engineer of the Central Research Center, Nippon Koei, is a civil engineer and a researcher who obtained his doctorate from Michigan State University in 1984. He joined Japan Highways (JH) in 1976, then taught at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) as an associate professor, before joining the World Bank as a highway engineer. He then served as President of NEXCO Maintenance Chuoh; Executive Officer, Central NEXCO; and President of the Japan Expressway International (JEXWAY).
His is a qualified Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), a Certified System Auditor (CSA), a Professional Engineer (PE) in road engineering, and a concrete structures inspector.
